About Laura

I was born and raised in the great Midwest in Cleveland.  I attended the University of Miami in Florida and then came back to the great state of Ohio.  My family has a dog named Gus and he is fantastic and also unquestionably neurotic.

I can trace my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) based thinking and memories as far back as I can remember, but I was diagnosed officially around fifth grade.  It has been a struggle off and on since then.  My family has always been my greatest source of support, especially my mom who has carried me through my roughest patches.

Some people talk about finding a cure, but I see it as almost a personality trait that can get out of hand.  I've been told by multiple authorities that my OCD will never totally go away, and I'm learning to live with it.

I created this blog so that I could share and connect with other people who have OCD, their supporters, and potentially mental health professionals and others who are looking for a more realistic picture of what it looks like to live the OCD lifestyle.  Please feel free to comment on any posts or email me at laurasocdlife@gmail.com.
